Doesn't sound very good does it? But that's how healthy-home expert Alan Berman described the modern UK home in a recent article in The Telegraph. He went on to say, “While a single spray of a cleaner won’t cause harm, these chemicals build up in the home environment."
This build up is now widely recognised as a contributor to the increasing cases of asthma, eczema, allergies and other autoimmune disorders that we have seen over the last few decades. There are now in excess of 30,000 man made chemicals traded in the EU and most of these are in household cleaners and toiletries. What's under your sink? Most homes have over 200 chemicals in their cleaning cupboard!
It doesn't have to be that way any more. There are an increasing number of cleaning products which don't have hidden nasties and many are actually based on natural ingredients; the sort of ingredients our grandparents once used but adapted with modern science for better results without hazardous chemicals.
